Provided is a vehicle light unit of which the size and weight can be reduced, wherein it is possible to inhibit the impact of solar light while ensuring the amount of light externally emitted from the vehicle light unit by means of a light-emitting diode. A vehicle light unit provided with, a light-emitting diode, a substrate for supporting the light-emitting diode, and a projection lens for projecting the light from the light-emitting diode as direct light, wherein the projection lens has a transmittance reduction part, and the transmittance of light from the light-emitting diode at the transmittance reduction part is lower than the other parts of the projection lens.
