PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair in which a backplate is supported by a back support rod in a mode where the upper end side thereof can be displaced in right and left directions relative to the lower end side and disadvantage does not happen in the attaching portion of a backplate to the back support rod even in the case where the backplate is displaced in the right and left directions. SOLUTION: The chair 100 constituted by having the back support rod 51 and the backplate 61 directly or indirectly supported by the back support rod 51 such that the upper end side can be displaced in the right and left directions relative to the lower end side is characterized in that the backplate 61 has a backplate body 61a directly or indirectly supported by the distal end portion of the back support rod 51 and a lower end attaching portion 61b arranged in the lower end portion of the backplate body 61a and secured to the proximal end side of the back support rod 51 using screws B2, while the lower end attaching 61b is protruded out in a direction crossing the lower end portion of the backplate body 61a, and in that the lower end attaching portion 61b is attached to the backplate rod 51 by the screws B2 arranged orthogonally to the protruding out direction of the lower end attaching portion 61b.
