PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing the melt loss of a sliding nozzle plate for continuous casting, in the production of a low carbon free-cutting steel with B excellent in machinability added thereto. SOLUTION: The method for producing the low carbon free-cutting steel with B added thereto includes: controlling the soluble oxygen concentration in the molten steel before the LF process to be ≤200ppm or controlling the average MnO concentration of inclusion in the molten steel to be supplied for the continuous casting to be ≤30 mass%, when the steel composed of, by mass, 0.005-0.2% C, 0.001-0.5% Si, 0.3-3.0% Mn, 0.001-0.2% P, 0.40-0.50% S, 0.001-0.015% B, 0.005-0.012% O. 0.0001-0.0010% Ca, 0.003-0.015% N, ≤0.01% Al and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, is produced with continuous casting through a molten steel treatment with an LF process.
