[Class 37] A dry-plate rectifier assembly, Fig. 1, compriser rectifier elements 10 housed within a sleeve of insulation 14 and between conductive end pieces 15 and 16, inserted into the sleeve 14, a sheathing of plastic material 18 being moulded around the sleeve and the end pieces in a manner securing these end pieces to the sleeve and hermetically sealing the sleeve. A spring 13 and spacing members 11 and 12 co-operate to position the rectifier elements. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 2, end-pieces 15<1> and 16<1>, in the form of cups, surround the sleeve 14. A terminal wire 28 projects into a cavity 30 of the end piece 16<1> and is fixed therein by solder 23 providing a surface with which an electrically - conductive spacing member 12 makes contact. This latter arrangement may be used at both ends if the end pieces are of non-conductive material. The plastic sheathing 18 may be a thermo-plastic known as " Polythene " or a thermo-setting plastic material. The moulding may be carried out on the transfer principle with pre-heating by a highfrequency current. |
