PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing device constructing a database with high convenience by optically reading an image of a standard postcard or the like, identifying a format, comparing read image data with existing image data, and previously optimizing database to be stored according to the result, and to provide a data processing method using the same.SOLUTION: A recording medium having a standard format is read by an image reading unit 2, character recognition is performed, and image data and the format are determined by a determination unit 4a. When the format of the read image data conforms to a prestored registered format, the determination unit 4a determines, on the basis of specific items, whether or not the read image data is present in an individual data file corresponding to the registered format as matching image data. A control unit 4 determines that part of the image data is different on the basis of nonspecific items, and updates the nonspecific items with difference. |
