PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable continuous decontamination of the gravel-like material whose surface is contaminated with a radioactive material, with a small number of steps by a small scale facility.SOLUTION: A decontamination facility is constituted by a washing tank filled with a solution of hydrogen peroxide, a rotating drum immersed into the solution inside the washing tank and rotating gravel-like materials contaminated with a radioactive matter, and a suction device for allowing an upper layer liquid of the solution in which the radioactive matter removed from the gravel-like materials by the rotation of the rotating drum is isolated to pass through an absorbent so that the radioactive matter is sucked. The rotating drum is set lateral and provided with multi-holes of a size which allows the solution and the radioactive matter to pass through but does not allow the gravel-like materials to pass through. The decontamination facility is opened with an input port and a discharge port in front and rear, and a scooping blade is projecting provided for scooping up the gravel-like materials on the inner surface of the discharge port side so as to be moved to the discharge port. The rotating drum is slightly inclined so that the input port is located above and the lower part thereof is pivotally supported at a height to be immersed in the solution inside the washing tank, and a discharge chute for discharging the gravel-like materials scooped up by the scooping blade is provided at the position of the discharge port. |
