PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold that has a long lifetime and can stably manufacture cast slabs with high surface quality by casting even for steel types differing in size of solidification contraction and even in widely various operation configurations.SOLUTION: A mold for continuous casting is characterized in that there is provided a rectangularly sectioned mold used to continuously cast steel and having, in order upward from a lower end, a linear tapered part region constant in a taper ratio on short-edge sides and a curved tapered part region gradually increasing in a taper ratio on a short-edge sides, wherein the mold comes into contact with a meniscus of molten steel in the curved tapered part region and the taper ratio of the linear tapered part region is smaller than a reference taper ratio at which the solidification contraction of a steel type having the largest solidification contraction among a plurality of steel types to be cast is compensated. |
