A foam encasement is provided for a mattress having an inner-spring section. A pair of relatively short first foam members is non-adhesively joined to a pair of relatively longer second foam members by interlocking joints, such that the first and second foam members together form a multi-sided encasement for containing the inner-spring section. Each joint may be made up of one or more projecting members and one or more corresponding socket members, the projecting members and socket members being capable of frictional engagement to hold the joint without adhesive. A method of assembling a mattress with the foam encasement, and a mattress so-assembled, are also provided.
