PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a white color from being tinged to be viewed in projection-type picture display devices and three-dimensional display systems which employ a despin motor drive (DMD) and are compatible with a three-dimensional display.SOLUTION: The projection-type picture display device includes: a DMD driving unit 17 that causes all mirror elements to be put into an OFF-state during a spoke period of a timing at which an opening/closing operation of a shutter is performed and the mirror elements rendering a white color to be put into an ON-state during a spoke period of a timing other than the timing at which the shutter opening/closing is performed; an eye spectacle control unit 19 that controls the shutter opening/closing operation such that the opening/closing operation of the shutter is completed during the spoke period at which all of the mirror elements are put into the OFF-state; and a light source driving unit 14 that increases brightness of light of a color contained in a segment of the spoke period at which all of the mirror elements are put into the OFF-state and thereby controls a light source 1 such that a ratio of light intensity of each color to be emitted from the mirror elements rendering the white color to a screen 8 is made uniform.
