The invention relates to a medical device comprising a lighting device (14) that has at least one LED (16). An optical converter (22) is mounted downstream of the LED (16) in the beam path of the radiation emitted by the LED (16), said optical converter containing at least one fluorescent dye (26) which causes a long-wavelength extension or conversion of the radiation spectrum emitted by the LED (16). The at least one LED (16) is not directly connected to the optical converter (22), and an optical separating means (34) lies between the at least one LED (16) and the optical converter (22) in the beam path, said separating means being designed as an optical low-pass filter (34) which is designed in a substantially transparent manner for the radiation generated by the LED (16) and in a substantially reflective manner for the longer-wavelength radiation emitted from the at least one fluorescent dye (26). The optical low-pass filter (34) is applied on a separate support (36) lying between the LED (16) and the optical converter (22) on the support surface that faces the optical converter (22). A medium (30) is arranged between the support (36) and the LED (15) in the beam path, said medium having a lower refractive index than the support (36).
