[Class 135] In a rotary disc valve a renewable ported plate k is provided on the seating member d (as shown), or the closure member e or both, and is held, e.g. by dowels, against relative movement thereto, grooves around the ports on either side of the plate being supplied with lubricant or sealing substance to prevent leakage. The lubricant is supplied from a chamber r under pressure of a piston s (spring- loaded or subject to the pressure of the controlled fluid or both), through a channel y in the actuating spindle j, to a chamber z, whence it passes by channels q and a non-circular chamber 4 in the plate k to annular grooves o around each port l ; in the service positions of the valve, the chamber 4 also communicates with radial grooves in the closure member e, these grooves at the same time communicating with an annular groove 2 through the dowel holes in the plate. The chamber is replenished from a reservoir 6 through a check valve 8 by means of a screw 7, and sealing grooves 9 and 16, supplied in a similar manner, may be provided. The valve comprises an inlet similar to the outlet f<1>, but at right-angles thereto, which in the position shown intercommunicates therewith through holes such as h<1> in the closure member e, and the space g. On rotation of the member e through 90‹, the passage f<1> intercommunicates with a further passage, opposite the inlet, through a groove i, the inlet still communicating, by the hole h<1>, with the space g, so that in both positions inlet pressure obtaining in the space g assists in pressing the closure member upon its seat. |
