PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer composition which has excellent recontamination preventing performance while securing sufficient compatibility with a surfactant, and a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: A polymer composition includes: (i) a polymer (X1) which includes a structural unit (a) derived from a (meth)acrylic acid (salt) and a structural unit (b) derived from a dicarboxylic acid (salt), the ratio of the structural unit (a) to the structural unit (b) being 80:20 to 30:70; (ii) a polymer (X2) which is produced by a method including the step of polymerizing a monomer including a (meth)acrylic monomer as an essential component in the presence of a compound having a polyalkylene glycol structure, in which the amount of water at the start of the polymerization is 0-120 pts.mass relative to 100 pts.mass of the used amount of the compound having the polyalkylene glycol structure, and the amount of water contained in the reaction solution at the end of the addition of the (meth)acrylic monomer is 100-100,000 pts.mass relative to 100 pts.mass of the used amount of the compound having polyalkylene glycol structure. |
