PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both power saving and compensation of wavelength dispersion characteristics of an optical transmission line by controlling an LD current value according to a distance so as to suit the extension and multi-branching system.SOLUTION: A station side device OLT of a PON optical transmission system includes: a laser transmission element LD as a light source for transmission; an EA modulator for modulating an output light from the laser transmission element LD; a semiconductor optical amplifier SOA for amplifying the output light from EA modulator; and a bias control unit 26 for setting a driving current for driving a laser transmission element and an EA bias voltage of the EA modulator, where the bias control unit 26 sets pre-chirping parameter α of the EA modulator in advance by controlling the EA bias voltage of the EA modulator and sets the pre-chirping parameter α of the semiconductor optical amplifier SOA by regulating a quantity of the driving current of the laser transmission element LD according to distance section information between the station side device and a plurality of home side devices. |
