The present invention relates to inter-layer encoding and decoding of a multi-view video on the basis of a tree structure encoding unit. The present invention relates to a video encoding method which: encodes a base layer image, either a base view texture image or a base view depth image, on the basis of a tree structure encoding unit from among encoding units for which the maximum encoding unit of an image is hierarchically divided; determines the inter-layer encoding mode for inter-layer encoding an additional view image with reference to the base view image on the basis of the tree structure encoding units; and references an addition layer image that includes the additional view image.
