<p>The invention relates to a method for the dynamic quantisation of an image stream comprising transformed blocks, said method comprising a step in which a relationship (V12, V10 and V20) can be established between at least one source block having temporal predictive encoding (330, 323) of a first image (B1, P2) and one or a plurality of so-called reference blocks (311, 312, 313, 314, 316, 321, 322, 323 and 324) belonging to other images (l0 and P2). In addition, the method comprises, for at least one of the transformed blocks, a step involving the quantisation of the block, in which the level of quantisation applied to the block is chosen (402) at least partially on the basis of the relationship(s) (V12, V10, V20) established between said block and blocks belonging to other images.
