<p>The invention concerns an endless, flexible ring (32) for a drive belt for a continuously variable transmission that comprises a number of such rings (32) in a mutually radially nested, i.e. stacked relationship forming an endless carrier. At least one radially oriented surface of at least a part of such number of rings (32) is provided with a surface profile in the form of a pattern of mutually intersecting protruding parts (35) that define and circumscribe a plurality of depressions (36). To minimise friction between the rings (32) of the endless carrier, the cavities (36) make up between at least 5% and at most 30 % of the total, radially oriented surface area of the respective ring (32).</p> |
