<p>An alloy consists of a silicon bronze of the composition copper (more than 80 per cent) and silicon (0.9 to 5 per cent) with the balance (if any) of one or more of the metals manganese, lead (not more than 0.5 per cent), zinc, tin, iron, aluminium, to which is added 3 to 20 per cent indium. A modified alloy consists of 94 1/2 per cent or more copper, 1 to 4 per cent silicon, and up to an aggregate of 2 per cent of one or more of the metals manganese, lead (not more than 1/4 per cent.), zinc, tin, iron. Bearing surfaces, watch bearings or the ball or roller elements, or both elements, of roller bearings may be composed of the above alloy.</p> |
