The invention relates to a machine component (5) for an electrical machine (1), wherein the machine component (5) comprises a component body having adjacent pole regions (9), each having a pole contour (12). The respective pole regions (9) extend in a first direction between two pole edges, which pole edges correspond to the direction of the array of the adjacent pole areas (9), wherein the pole contours (12) extend in a second direction which is substantially perpendicular thereto.
