PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconductive wire rod capable of reducing AC loss and having high reliability, and to provide a superconductive cable using the same. SOLUTION: The superconductive wire rod 1 has a structure in which an intermediate layer 3 and a superconductive layer 4 are formed and laminated on a substrate 2 and a protection layer 5 covers them. Then, a slit S which satisfies the following requirements is formed in the substrate 2. (1) It is formed on a face on the opposite side to the face of the substrate 2 on which the superconductive layer 4 is formed. (2) It has a depth d up to the middle of the thickness t of the substrate 2.
