Absorbent products having improved packaging efficiency

An absorbent product includes a package 100 having an interior space 102 and an exterior surface; and a plurality of disposable absorbent articles in a stack 106 in the interior space. Each absorbent article 104 has a topsheet; a backsheet; a substantially cellulose free absorbent core; a first waist region; a second waist region; a crotch region; and a fastening member extending laterally outward from the second waist region and adapted to releasably connect with a landing zone located in the first waist region. The articles have an impermeable backsheet, which may be a laminate of a non-woven and a plastic film or may be breathable. The absorbent article exhibits an In-Bag Stack Height of less than about 80 mm (preferably between 72mm and 80mm) as measured according to an In-Bag Stack Height Test, being the package width 108 divided by the number of pads in the stack 106, multiplied by 10. The article may have a layered acquisition system.
