The system (10A) has an air compression unit (21) for supplying a compressed air to a compressed air supply unit (1). A pneumatic connection i.e. bleeding line (30), comprises a controllable solenoid valve system (40A) that comprises a magnetic part (43A), a pneumatic part (44A) and a bleeding port (3) for bleeding air. A compressed air supply line (20) comprises an air drier (22) and a compressed air port (2) for supplying the compressed air to a pneumatic system (90). The pneumatic part of the valve system is kept open when the magnetic part of the valve system is not activated. The solenoid valve system is designed as a directly controlled exhaust solenoid valve system. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a pneumatic system i.e. air suspension system of a vehicle.
