<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an image with the optimum peak white luminance in a display device of AM (Active Matrix) driving system. <P>SOLUTION: The display device includes: a means by which an average luminance of an image of one frame is calculated by inputting display data from an input means and considering gamma characteristics; a means by which a subjectively optimal peak white luminance value is calculated by inputting the average luminance and including a predetermined power calculation; and a means by which frame delay of the calculated value is performed and Lp(n+1) and Lp(n) before and after delay are compared, and then when Lp(n+1)>Lp(n) is satisfied, a value of Lp(n)/Lp(n+1) as a conversion coefficient and a value of Lp(n+1) as a reference are output while when Lp(n+1)>Lp(n) is not satisfied, 1 as a conversion coefficient and Lp(n) as a reference are output. The display device also includes: a frame memory FM for phase matching of the input display data and Lp(n); a circuit which performs data conversion by receiving the display data from FM and the conversion coefficient; and a data driver which generates an analog voltage to be supplied to an active matrix by receiving the data experienced data conversion and the reference. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
