摘要 PURPOSE: A recombinant virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) vector derived from soybean yellow common mosaic virus (SYCMV) is provided to induce silencing of a desired gene, thereby studying the function of the gene and detecting useful genes. CONSTITUTION: A SYCMV-derived recombinant VIGS vector contains a promoter and full length SYCMV nucleic acid sequences and also has a restriction enzyme site for insertion of a foreign gene into a coat protein coding gene in the full length SYCMV sequence. A method for analyzing the function of a foreign gene comprises the steps of: inserting the foreign gene to be analyzed into the recombinant VIGS vector; cleaving the recombinant VIGS vector and performing in vitro transcription to prepare an RNA transcript; inoculating the RNA transcript into a plant body and silencing the foreign gene; and analyzing the phenotype of the plant body.
