PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for measuring the temperature of molten metal in a tundish are provided to monitor the temperature of the molten metal in real time and to prevent operational accidents beforehand when the temperature of the molten metal decreases. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for measuring the temperature of molten metal in a tundish comprises a temperature measuring unit, a driving unit(140), and a controller(150). The temperature measuring unit is dipped in the molten metal of the tundish to measure the temperature of the molten metal. The driving unit is installed on the cover of the tundish and vertically adjusts the dipped depth of the temperature measuring unit. The controller controls the amount of the molten metal in the tundish according to the measured weight of the tundish and controls the driving unit to change the temperature measuring position of the temperature measuring unit according to the calculated amount of the molten metal.
