A method for controlling an internal combustion engine (1) which provides for determining the current value of the driving torque (C) requested to the internal combustion engine (1) and the first time derivative (C) of the current value of the driving torque; comparing the current value of the driving torque (C) and the first time derivative (C) of the current value of the driving torque with a first threshold value (S1) and a second threshold value (S2), respectively; determining a sports driving condition only if the current value of the driving torque (C) is higher than the first threshold value (S1) and if the time first derivative (C) of the current value of the driving torque is higher than the second threshold value (S2); and controlling the internal combustion engine (1) as a function of the sports driving condition. |
