PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device employing an IPS system, which maintains a sufficient retention capacity even when a pixel is reduced in size.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device 200 includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer, a first polarizing plate and a second polarizing plate, a lens member 223 and a light source disposed on an opposite side of the second substrate to the liquid crystal layer, and a first electrode and a second electrode 214 formed on the second substrate. The second electrode 214 includes a condensing part electrode 229 disposed in a condensing region 225 of the lens member 223, and a non-condensing part electrode 230 disposed in a non-condensing region 226. The lens member 223 includes a part functioning as a plurality of lenses arranged in a grid or honeycomb state. The display device further includes an alignment layer and a spacer member 209, which is formed at a position corresponding to the non-condensing region 226 and disposed at a position overlapping the non-condensing part electrode 230 in a plan view. |
