PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter press apparatus capable of reducing a cost with a simple structure while decreasing a load laden on filter plates. SOLUTION: A locking claw 51 is freely turnably attached to a platform 41 of a plate opening device 25 which moves a filter plate 12. In the plate opening device, a direction in which each distance of filter plates 12 is closed to be in an overlapping state is a closing direction and a direction in which each distance of filter plates 12 is open is an opening direction. The locking claw 51 is disposed in such a manner that its tip end extends from a lateral direction of the outside to a supporting arm 35 of the filter plate 12. A spring 63 for applying a force to the locking claw 51 so as to touch a touching part 61 of the tip end with one plain 35a of the supporting arm 35, and a stopper 53 for locking the locking claw 51 in such a state that the touching part 61 is touched to the supporting arm 35 are provided, and a locking claw 51 is turned by touching the supporting arm 35 when the plate opening device 25 slides in a plate closing direction to pass on its lateral side without intervened by the supporting arm 35.
