[Class 144 (i)] A device for loosening and removing tyres from wheel rims comprises a frame 4 adapted to be bolted to the wheel 1 to which a support 6 is secured by a clamp 5, a tubular T-shaped head 7 rotatable on the support, and an arm 8 slidable through the head 7 carrying the tool 17 for exerting pressure on the edge of the tyre. Compression-springs 9, 9<SP>1</SP> are fitted between the head 7 and collars 10, 10<SP>1</SP> adjustable on the arm 8. The tool-carrier 13 which is pivoted at 12 on the arm 8 has a quadrant-slot for angularlyadjustable clamping to the cranked end 11 of the arm by a nut 14. A hand-lever 20' is formed with a fork 19 swung on the pivot 12, having a pin-and-slot adjustment on a sleeve 15 integral with the carrier 13. The tool-holder 16 has a series of holes 24 for selective engagement by the bolt 23 engaging the slots 21, 22 in the fork 19 and sleeve 15. As shown in Fig. 2, a second tool-holder 30 may be provided on a follower hand-lever 29 pivoted on the head 7. A scraping-wheel may be provided for removing excessive rust &c. from the rim. |
