A defect judgement apparatus for LCDs(Liquid Crystal Displays) and a method thereof are provided to analyze the wrinkles generated at an optical sheet quantitatively in order to effectively verify whether a defect in the optical sheet has been reduced. A defect judgement apparatus for LCDs comprises a CCD(Charged-Coupled Device)(59), a filter(72), a contrast adjustment part(74), a gray/luminance conversion part(76), a display defect analysis part(78), a display part(80), and a control part(82). The CCD photographs an image of an LCD(57). The filter cancels a noise contained in an output signal of the CCD. The contrast adjustment part adjusts the contrast characteristic of an image outputted from the filter in accordance with the visibly recognized contrast characteristic of an image displayed on the LCD. The gray/luminance conversion part converts the gray of the contrast-adjusted image into luminance. The display defect analysis part analyzes the luminance of a preset virtual measurement line portion on the display screen of the LCD and confirms the display defect level of the LCD. The display defect analysis part judges whether the LCD is defective based on a graph to which an analyzed result is mapped. The display part displays whether the LCD is defective. The control part controls the contrast adjustment part, the gray/luminance conversion part, the display defect analysis part, and the display part, and supplies the data of the graph to the display defect analysis part. |
