To form an image using a plurality of pixel devices (such as smart phones or tablets) a communication channel is formed over an Internet Protocol (IP) network between each of the pixel devices 20 and a remote server 40. The server calculates a display attribute for each pixel device according to the image to be formed and communicates each display attribute to each pixel device. The display of each pixel device is changed in accordance with the display attribute so that the pixel devices together form the desired image, with each pixel device forming a pixel of the image. To determine the position of a plurality of mobile devices each mobile device senses wireless signals of a neighbouring mobile device to obtain information indicative of the identity of and distance to the mobile device. This information is then received by a server which can calculate a map of the relative positions of the mobile devices using the distance information. |
