A method for culturing cells or microorganisms by dissolving oxygen or carbon dioxide in a culture solution containing a nutrient, the method including: a step of culturing cells or microorganisms by supplying gas containing oxygen or carbon dioxide to a porous body to generate, in a culture solution, bubbles that have a 50% diameter of 200 µm or less in a volume-based particle size distribution, thereby dissolving oxygen or carbon dioxide in the culture solution, wherein the culture solution contains at least one of a cell-protecting agent for protecting the cells and a protein hydrolysate.
