PURPOSE: An electronic parking brake system and a control method thereof are provided to automatically maintain a vehicle to a halt state by discovering the intention of a driver based on the further operation of a pedal. CONSTITUTION: A control method of an electronic parking brake system is as follows. The state of a vehicle is determined by sensing whether there is a first operation of a pedal while driving the vehicle. If the vehicle is in a halt state, the particular halt state of the vehicle is determined by sensing whether there is a second operation of the pedal. If the engine of the vehicle is turn on, the braking of a brake assembly is controlled. |
