PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hose that can be used without any leakage, and has a longer length and/or diameter than has been previously achievable, and to provide a method and apparatus for making the same.SOLUTION: A composite hose 10 includes a tubular body 12 of a flexible material arranged between wires 22, 24 which are wound helically on the outer and the inner side. The hose 10 further includes an axial strengthening means 20 composed so as to decrease the deformation of the tubular body 12 when the tubular body 12 is subjected to the axial force. When the axial strengthening means 20 is subjected to the axial force, the axial strengthening means is constituted so that the force may be applied inwardly in the radial direction at least part of the tubular body. The hose 10 can have a length above 30 m and a diameter above 400 mm. Moreover, a method and apparatus for making the hose 10 are described including the use of a nonmetal mandrel. |
