PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crucible for melting waste asbestos which contains iron as a main component, which has resistance to oxidation at high temperature and alkali corrosion, and which can extend a service life by reducing sulfide corrosion.SOLUTION: A crucible 11 for melting waste asbestos introduced inside along with an alkali fusing agent by induction heating, contains iron as a main component, has a bottomed tubular shape in which an upper opening 11a is formed at an upper end, and contains 32 mass% or greater of chrome and 19 mass% or greater of nickel.
