A method for diagnosing peritonitis comprises laparocentesis and sampling the fluid. The sampled peritoneal fluid is visualized, and 5 mL of the fluid is added to the test tube containing 1.5 mL of 50 % ethanol solution. The gel formation within 10 minutes is indicative of peritonitis. |
