PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATM connection device capable of detecting a fault included in a standby system before an APS switching and a fault detection method for the ATM connection device.SOLUTION: An ATM connection device which has an active system and a standby system defined as APS (Automatic Protection Switching) includes: AAL parts (33, 36, 17 and 20) that reproduce user data of AAL (ATM Adaptation Layer) from the active and standby system ATM cell data received from its mating ATM connection device; and comparison verification parts (37 and 23) that compare the active system user data to the standby system user data for verification. |
