<p>PURPOSE: A character string display method for a portable electronic device and a portable electronic device thereof are provided to minimize the time and the resource of a user necessary for obtaining accurate information by displaying the remaining part of a character string which is not displayed based on the impact applied to an electronic device. CONSTITUTION: The length of a character string is compared with the displaying area of a display unit (S110). Part of the character string is displayed on the display unit as much as the available length (S120). The impact applied to an electronic device is sensed (S140). The remaining part of the character, which is not displayed, string is displayed based on the impact (S150). An impact in a direction in which the part of the character string is displayed, an impact within a preset angle from the said direction, or an impact from a circumferential surface which is vertical to the said direction among circumferential surfaces around the electronic device is sensed.
