The invention relates to a cold-insulated pipe support for a pipeline (R), in particular for a low-temperature pipeline, comprising a pipe receptacle (2) that delimits a receiving space for a pipe section of the pipeline (R) and comprising a holding device (7) for absorbing and transmitting forces and torques acting on the pipeline (R) and on a base (B). The invention further relates to a method for installing the pipe support. With the objective of an inexpensive construction and low loading of the pipeline (R) in operation, it proposed that the holding device (7) comprise a stop apparatus (8) having at least one stop element (9) for absorbing and transmitting axial pipe forces to the pipe receptacle (2) and/or to the base (B) and that the stop element (9) be fixed in the installation position on a narrow-surfaced side surface (12) on the outside of the pipeline (R), wherein the side surface extends longitudinally in the axial direction (x) in the installation position and is designed as a connecting side surface (10).
