PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element in which low elevation angle property can be improved in longitudinal and lateral directions of a vehicle, and a sunlight sensor.SOLUTION: A light-receiving lens 3 of a sunlight sensor 1 comprises a light-receiving part 3a including a non-spherical light-receiving surface IS and a flange part 3b including a flat surface FS continued from the light-receiving surface IS. In the light-receiving part 3a, a recess 20 is formed which is opened towards an emission side of sunlight. In the recess 20, an opening K presents a substantially rectangular shape, and the recess 20 is tapered from a side of the opening K towards a side of the light receiving surface IS by first to fourth inner surfaces. The first and second inner surfaces are curved when the recess 20 is viewed in a cross section in a longitudinal direction of a vehicle. Third and fourth inner surfaces 20c and 20d are curved when the recess 20 is viewed in a cross section in a lateral direction of the vehicle. The recess 20 is positioned closer to a front side of the vehicle when viewed in the cross section in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. |
