In a configuration which does not have a primary transfer dedicated power supply and generates a prescribed voltage in an intermediate transfer body by means of a constant voltage element, it can occur that in order to avoid primary transfer defects, an unnecessarily high power-supply voltage is applied and the transfer member undergoes conduction deterioration. By detecting the current flowing to the constant voltage element, it becomes possible to calculate the minimum power-supply voltage at which the intermediate transfer body can maintain the prescribed voltage, and conduction deterioration of the transfer member can be avoided.
|
