PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object detection device capable of correctly determining the presence or absence of a detection object by certainly determining the presence or absence of an incidence of external light.SOLUTION: In a proximity sensor S including a light-emitting part 1 and a light-receiving part 2 for receiving reflected light R in which infrared light IR emitted from the light-emitting part 1 reflects on a hand H, the infrared light IR is caused to emit light by time-sequentially changing light emission intensity in the light-emitting part 1 so as to detect whether or not the change of a light reception level in the light receiving part 2 corresponds to the change of light emission intensity, and when it is detected that the change of the light reception level does not correspond to the change of light emission intensity, it is determined that the light receiving part 2 receives external light other than the reflection light R. Based on this determination result, the presence or absence of the hand H is determined. |
