PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solenoid valve and a shock absorber superior in workability, and capable of exhibiting stable damping force.SOLUTION: A problem solving means is a solenoid valve 1 including a housing 6 having a hollow part 6a and a port 6b communicated with the hollow part 6a by opening from the outside, a spool valve 7 being a cylindrical shape, having a spool port 7a for communicating the inside and outside and slidably inserted in the axial direction into the hollow part 6a, and a solenoid 8 for driving the spool valve 7 in the axial direction, and capable of adjusting a communication degree of the port 6b and the spool port 7a by driving the spool valve 7. The spool port 7a is formed as a long hole arranged along the axial direction in the spool valve 7, and a narrow width part 7c having a peripheral directional width narrower than a peripheral directional width of an intermediate part of the spool port 7a, is arranged on the port side end of the spool port 7a. |
