PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the thermal efficiency of a thermal print head.SOLUTION: A thermal print head is equipped with a ceramic substrate 22, a glaze layer 25, a resistor layer 27, an electrode layer 28, and a protection layer 29. The glaze layer 25 is attached to the surface of the ceramic substrate 22, and has a plurality of ridges 81 extending in a subsidiary scanning direction arrayed in a main scanning direction with gaps interposed in-between. The electrode layer 28 has electrodes extending in the subsidiary scanning direction in the ridges 81 with gaps interposed in-between formed, the resistor layers 27 in the clearance portions become heating resistors. The heating resistors extend along the ridges 81 and arrayed in the main scanning direction. The protection layer 29 covers the glaze layer 25, the heating resistors and the electrodes. The top portions 85 of the glaze layer 25 which correspond to the ridges 81 and dent portions 84 corresponding to valleys 82 between the ridges 81 of the glaze layer 25 are formed on the surface of the protection layer 29. |
