PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent sintered body in a 1 μm band which includes trivalent terbic ions that actualized a high Verdet constant, by causing trivalent terbic ions to be included at high concentration which has been impossible in the conventional glass or single crystal only partially including terbium oxide.SOLUTION: A sintered body for magneto-optic elements for a wavelength of 1 μm includes an oxide shown by the compositional formula (TbM)O(in the formula, M is a trivalent element whose ionic radius is in the range of from 0.85 Å to 0.91 Å, and 0.1≤x<0.6) as a principal ingredient, and the balance of an oxide containing a divalent cation and an oxide containing a tetravalent cation. |
