METHOD FOR PRODUCING PURIFIED PHENOL-BASED COMPOUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a purified phenol in a short time efficiently using a sulfonic acid type cation exchange resin to a phenol-based compound containing impurities such as acetol.SOLUTION: A gel type cation exchange resin having a crosslinking degree of 1.0-5.0% and an average particle diameter of ≤700 μm is used as a sulfonic acid type cation exchange resin. The gel type cation exchange resin having a crosslinking degree of 1.0-5.0% and an average particle diameter of ≤700 μm has a large catalytic activity surface area participating in a reaction between a phenol-based compound and impurities per unit weight. Consequently, the reaction promotion effect between a phenol-based compound and impurities is high and a purified phenol can be efficiently produced.
