PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline battery capable of reliably preventing liquid leakage or rupture due to charging.SOLUTION: An alkaline battery 1a comprises: a cylindrical positive electrode can 2 opened at its top and having a bottom; a positive electrode mixture 3 molded into a hollow cylindrical shape and inserted and fitted in the positive electrode can; a negative electrode gel 5 filled in a hollow cylinder of the positive electrode mixture via a separator 4; a negative electrode terminal plate 7 fitted with an opening of the positive electrode can via a gasket 8; and a negative electrode collector 6a that is made of rod-like metal with a bottom end as a tip, whose top end is spot-welded to a lower face of the negative electrode terminal plate, and whose tip 16 side is inserted in the negative electrode gel. The gasket comprises a boss section 11 that has a disc-like upper face shape, and in which the negative electrode collector is pressure-welded to a disc center. Recesses 20 for capturing air bubbles 30 generated on a contact interface with the negative gel are dispersed on the negative electrode collector across a region L1 from the tip to a bottom end 15 of the boss section. |
