PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide humanized recombinant anti-VLA-4 antibody molecules useful in the treatment of specific and non-specific inflammation, including asthma and inflammatory bowel disease, and also useful in diagnosing and locating sites of inflammation.SOLUTION: A humanized recombinant antibody molecule has specificity for VLA-4 and an antigen binding site, wherein at least one of complementarity determining regions (CDRs) of variable domains are derived from a non-human anti-VLA-4 antibody, and the antibody has the potency of about 20% to about 100% of the potency of the murine HP1/2 monoclonal antibody.
