A vehicle monitoring system tool comprising a control unit for communication with a server across a communications network; and a communications unit for communication with a vehicle monitoring device such as a tyre pressure monitor. The control unit is incorporated into a portable computing device, preferably a smartphone,and the communications unit may be provided as a separate interconnectable device.
