PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multimode optical fiber that exhibits reduced bending losses.SOLUTION: A multimode optical fiber comprises: a central core surrounded by an outer cladding, the central core having an outer radius of about 35 microns or greater, a maximum refractive index n, a graded-index profile with respect to the outer optical cladding, and a certain relative refractive index difference: an inner cladding positioned between the central core and the outer cladding; and a depressed trench positioned between the inner cladding and the outer optical cladding, the depressed trench having a certain volume. The multimode optical fiber exhibits reduced bending losses. |
