Disclosed is a coated sulfide-type red phosphor particle, which comprises: a sulfide-type red phosphor particle that is represented by the compositional formula: (M1-xEux)S, wherein M represents Sr and/or Ca and x represents 0.001 to 0.1; and a coating layer that coats the sulfide-type red phosphor particle and contains a polysiloxane bond. The coated sulfide-type red phosphor particle is produced by a method comprising mixing a coating solution with the above-mentioned sulfide-type red phosphor particle and then heating the resultant mixture, wherein the coating solution contains an alkoxide and an organic compound having at least two hydroxy groups and the alkoxide comprises a first alkoxide that is a polyalkoxysilane and a second alkoxide that is a different compound from the first alkoxide.
